Some people might argue that the 1979 to 1993 Mustang was essentially the same car.  In many respects, this is true but car went through a significant evolutionary rather than revolutionary change, but unlike the downhill journey Mustang suffered after 1971, the car continued to get better year over year. Ford also made some mistakes during this time but they learned valuable lessons from these mistakes and in many cases they have reintroduced the same technologies, but highly improved and refined. 

During this time there were three model year introductions including 1979 to 1981, 1982 to 1986 and finally 1987 to 1983.  We will start with 1979 to 1981.
