The Smart - Earth Friendly &
Low
Pollution Cars.
If
most two-car
families in
America used
a Smart for
their urban
commuting,
demand for
oil would fall.
As world
oil supplies
dwindle, and demand for oil
increases,
(especially
considering China's
huge growth)
gasoline and
diesel will
likely
skyrocket in
price over the
next five
years.
Also, our dependence
on unstable
Middle Eastern
oil, with
some profits often
going
to terrorist
organizations,
means that we
should all
think about
reducing our
oil
consumption.
Along with an
average fuel
rating of 60
mpg
3.5l/100km,
The Smart has
some of
Mercedes-Benz's
best safety
technology.
Smart's could
reduce
overall
fatalities,
taking into
account the
reduced
fatality
numbers
resulting from
both a
lessened
impact to
other cars
because of the
Smart's low
weight - 730kg,
and reduced
Smart
occupant
fatalities
resulting from
The Smart's
safety cage
design.
The Smart is
one of the
easiest
vehicles in
the world to
drive and
park because
of it's
overall length
of
2,500mm. Some
people refer
to The Smart
as a toy, but
we
disagree.
For most
people, a toy
is a Lincoln
Navigator, a
Hummer, or a
Suburban
because these
all-terrain
land yachts,
which average
about 12 mpg,
are primarily
used by one
passenger,
carrying
nothing more
than a small
briefcase in
an urban
(city)
setting.
We applaud
Mercedes-Benz
for bringing
this fabulous
car to North
America, and
we're
delighted that
